Mississippi passed a medical cannabis bill in the House and Senate last week that will now go to the governor’s desk for final approval.
The new bill allows to buy 3 ounces of cannabis flowers per month. But you can only buy 3.5g (1/8) per day. However, some patients require a higher amount of cannabis to relieve their symptoms.
The bill also adds 7% sales tax and 5% excise tax on Medical Cannabis.
Jax James (Policies Manager for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) said:
“This news is arguably bittersweet for Mississippi’s patients […] While these steps forward are a welcome development, they are also long overdue. The overwhelming majority of voters decided in favor of this policy change over a year ago, and for the past 14 months the will of the people has been denied as a result of the actions of the state Supreme Court and the Governor.”
If the bill gets approved, Mississippi would be the 37th State to allow Medical Cannabis.
