Ah, here we are again, dealing with a too high tolerance. This probably has to do with the fact that you’ve been smoking more than usual. Or it could just be that you haven’t had a break from smoking weed for a while. The thing is that when our high tolerance starts getting too high, we start smoking more and more weed. Then one day we realize we’re smoking twice as much as we used to.
So what now? You don’t want to quit the herb, and that I understand. There are ways to combat a tolerance that has just become way too high. If you really commit to at least one of the following (very easy) ways to lower your tolerance again, you can be enjoying one hit in no time!
Very high tolerance because if dabs
Dabs are made of highly concentrated forms of marijuana, meaning they have extremely high volumes of THC. When you smoke a dab, you are taking in a hit of THC all in one that you wouldn’t otherwise get – not even from a bong! So, if you want to drop your too high tolerance a little, it’s time to take a break from dabs. Just a couple of weeks is long enough so that the next dab will have you sweating.
Enjoying flowers for a while will help bring you back to the days where you just needed a joint to get high!
Decrease your smoking frequency
If you’re smoking six or seven times throughout the day, it’s time to cut that number down. In fact, you can cram all the same amount of weed into three smoking sessions, but decreasing the frequency increases the sensitivity. What you’ll notice is that in those three sessions you will be getting extremely high. It also gives your brain more of a chance to sober up in the intervals, making the high more noticeable.
Smaller joints, bongs, pipes
If you’re really adamant that you want to keep smoking throughout the day, try to use just a little bit less in your joints, bongs or pipes. No need for king size papers anymore. You’ll be surprised how much weed actually just gets wasted when you can’t actually get any higher. So if the need is there to smoke, just roll a one paper instead of a two paper joint.
The same goes for pipes and bongs. If you have to, change the cone piece so that it is smaller and fits a smaller amount of weed in there.
Mixing your weed is another way to decrease your intake and in turn, lower your “too high tolerance”. Of course, we don’t advise mixing with tobacco because there are healthier options. There are lots of herbal mixtures that can be bought from head shops that are made for use with weed. Some of them encourage the effects of weed, too. That is another way to increase your high!
You can even make your own herbal mix if you happen to have some herbs in your garden that you know are smokeable. Some common herbs to mix with weed are coltsfoot, damiana, sage, lavender and rose petals! Beware that mixing definitely alters the flavour of your joints!
Have a good diet and healthy lifestyle
Believe it or not, exercising regularly and having a healthy lifestyle will keep you fresher. That means when you use weed, you will be much more sensitive to its intoxicating effects. Plus, if you’re spending a lot of your time exercising and cooking delicious food, you won’t have all that time to sit around smoking.
I can’t stress enough how vital it is to the marijuana experience to maintain healthy habits in other aspects of life. It completely supports the benefits that marijuana wants to give to your body, and in return you keep your tolerance as low as possible. So drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit and exercise regularly!
Just take some time away from smoke against your high tolerance
This is the suggestion that no one wants to hear but it is the most effective one. Take a few weeks away from the herb and focus on relaxing in other ways. You can enjoy the feeling of sobriety for a little while, too. And I promise when it comes time to smoke that first joint, it will be as though you were smoking for the first time.
A lot of smokers decide to take tolerance breaks in the end because of how enjoyable it is to come back after that. So don’t be afraid – life is just as great without weed! Enjoy a few weeks being sober and then you’ll really enjoy being stoned after that!
